[Porto Petro, Mallorca] Can Lis - Jørn Utzon

Ok, here's the first of the two mythical houses that Utzon built in Mallorca, Can Lis.
It was hard to find information on where the house is. I read on an article that at one point the house was like a touristic destination and there were buses visiting it, although I find that hard to believe because there's barely anything about it on the internet and there was nobody there when we visited today.
So the best way to get around in Mallorca is renting a car. Public transportation outside the city of Palma is not very good. There is a bus (L501) that goes out of the bus station and takes you to Porto Petro, but it takes like an hour and a half and driving would take like 45 minutes.
The house is to the south west of the bay of Porto Petro on a road called "Carrer de S'a mitja Lluna". Coming from Porto Petro you'll see first a house that is on the style but it's not it, that's can FAKE in the map. So you walk some 400 mts from there and you'll find it.
Google maps doesn't seem to be that very well done in that area and it's missing a lot of street names. you'll see that in that map the road the house is in is named Carretera de Santanyí a S'alqueria blanca.

This is the view from the access and the entry. The house is completely closed to the street and the wall generates an open corridor that links the volumes of the house from the back generating a sequence of spaces.

You can see in the last picture how the frame is attached to the outside of the stone so you get a feeling that there's nothing separating from the outside.

I didn't take many pictures because I felt guilty of being trespassing and violating these people's privacy, even though nobody was in the house. Besides it's so illegal LOL.

Great stuff- thank you. I love this house and have been on the look out for shots of the window frames for a long time...did you get and detail shots of the stone timber junction?

No I forgot, but it's just screwed in and then it has a wood cap on top of the screw. Really simple. Most of the doors are also attached that way.
