Exclamation When exporting to DWG/DXF it becomes 10% bigger!

EDIT 12.04.2009 : THERE IS NO BUG, I forgot to put the view in sketchup as 2D as I was exporting 2D dwg, hence the 1:1 Full Scale box was un-clickable...

SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!

This BUG is driving me insane... I thought it was Rhino doing some crazy stuff to my drawings, but as it turns out EVERY dwg/dxf export from Sketchup 7 is made 10% bigger.

That means if you have a wall thickness of e.g. 100mm, the wall in AutoCAD or Rhino when you open the dwg/dxf is in fact 110mm!!!

I couldn't believe this when it was happening at EVERY export!

Could anyone try this for me, just so I can keep my sanity by knowing I'm not the only one!

I hope someone from Google sees this... this is quite ridiculous actually... and can seriously screw up your projects if you are not careful!

As far as I'm aware you can only export dwg/dxf format with the pro version and not the free version.

I remember having some similar experience.

Under the preferences for 2D-export there are some options about scale and size, but maybe you already knew that?

yes I'm using SU7 pro...

the scale option in the export settings has a check in the 1:1 Full Scale box... but it is grayed out so I can't change it.

I've tried exporting as DXF and DWG, with all supported types from AutoCAD version 14 to 2007.

Same thing happens every time... the drawing gets 10% bigger... very strange!

Is there no one else who has this problem? Maybe I need to reinstall and check...

ok... I solved this great mystery... and of course it was my fault!!!

The retard that I am, did not notice that I was always exporting 2D dwg but the view in sketchup was always "perspective", as soon as I changed it to "parallel" then the 1:1 full scale box became usable.

I'm sorry for this total waste of time for you guy's, a moderator can definitely delete this thread if they think it confuses people...

I thought I was quite the Sketchup enthusiast, and capable of using the program at a high level of use, but apparently the simplest of tasks like exporting got me confused as hell... I need to get my shi* together!

Regards,
Ledurmadur

you're being a bit hard on yourself there! it's an easy thing to overlook and i'm sure you're not the first.

the thread is valid for others who may have the same issue in the future

It's a good resource for people who have similar problems. That's why the name of the thread has to be clear about what the topic is about.
