Good Night and Good Luck set designed in Sketchup

SketchUp 3D modeling software for designers, was involved with the making of ‘Good Night & Good Luck', a 2005 Warner Independent Film. Directed by George Clooney, the film depicts Senator Joseph McCarthy and the news coverage surrounding the infamous trials. The film has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, including ‘Best Motion Picture' and ‘Best Director'.

Using the ‘Good Night and Good Luck' script, production designer James Bissell modeled the entire studio set in SketchUp. All sets and camera angles were pre-visualized with this dynamic 3D modeling tool. The final movie maintains the integrity of the virtual sets designed in SketchUp.

'I've used SketchUp to design movie sets for almost two years and I love the ease with which I can add to an existing design,' said Bissel. 'Making quick edits is crucial to the movie production process and this software delivers on its promise of ease and accessibility.'

...and it sure doesn't have the political baggage most hollywood actors have these days...

man, if more actors had a political conscience, a real one, not a Mariah Carey stupid, or Bono sell out one, but maybe one like Bill Gates or Angelina Jolie, I'd be a much happier person.

    human=political.

"Whenever I watch TV and see those poor, starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean, I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff." - Mariah Carey

I just saw Syriana and Good night Good Luck, and was gladly surprised by the direction Clooney's career is taking:

We all have a political stance Danbush, that is the way we humans interact,
in fact "not taking a political stance" is one in fact!

    From Wikipedia:

    Politics

Mr. Clooney is a self-described political "liberal."
Clooney's father, Nick, ran as a Democrat in the 2004 election for a seat in the House of Representatives representing Kentucky's 4th Congressional district. He challenged Republican Geoff Davis for the open seat. Many observers, citing the star power and funding that Clooney's famous son would be able to draw, rated the race as highly competitive, and it quickly gained a high profile as one of few seriously contested House races. Clooney lost the election, gaining 44% of the vote to Davis's 54%. The conservative demographics of the northern Kentucky Fourth District, which were at odds with Clooney's mostly liberal leanings, have been cited as a major reason for Nick Clooney's loss.
Along with his public criticisms of Jack Abramoff and other Republicans, Clooney once remarked, "Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer's." When asked if he went too far with his comment, he said, "I don't care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him." (quote, response from Heston).
Speaking about the 2003-2006 Iraq war: "You can't beat your enemy anymore through wars; instead you create an entire generation of people revenge-seeking. These days it only matters who's in charge. Right now that's us — for a while at least. Our opponents are going to resort to car bombs and suicide attacks because they have no other way to win. ...I believe (Rumsfeld) thinks this is a war that can be won, but there is no such thing anymore. We can't beat anyone anymore." (quote).
On January 16, 2006, during his acceptance speech for the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Syriana, Clooney paused to thank sarcastically the disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff before adding, “Who would name their kid Jack with the word ‘off’ at the end of your last name? No wonder that guy is screwed up!” [2]
Clooney is active in advocating a resolution of the Darfur conflict.[3]

I think Clooney later apologized for the Jack Off comment. And really, it was childish. Just as bombing your enemy wont make them like you, neither will insulting their parents.
That was a great movie though. I'm fascinated by the whole McCarthy era. Everyone knows the witchhunts of America were wrong, but the McCarthy sure got people to fall for it all over again. Fear can make people do very bad things.
