Aotea Square, Auckland (Final Studio Project)

Well, it's all over for me! Had my final crit today - ever (unless I fail).

Now, I must warn you that this design is classical - some of you may not like that

The project is for a performing arts centre situated in Aotea Square, Auckland, New Zealand.

The above is the site and ground floor plan, north is shown. Included in my design was a proposal to maintain pedestrian links, a new facade for the existing 'barbaric' Aotea Centre to the east (actually proposed by Council), and 'fixing' the facade of the Force Entertainment centre to the north.

This is facade of the Southern Entry. The pedestrian arcades / streets are the arched entries to the left and right.

View through the square, from the north looking at the main facade. The new Aotea facade is on the right, the existing Civic Building (refer ground plan) is shown in the background.

Are you not planning on being an architect??? If you are then you have a lifetime of crits ahead of you.

Great job with your modeling. Very Nice. I do not like the frames in your presentation. They distract from the model and in the panel they do not encourage a flow between the elements or describe relationships between the different components on the boards.

Great job with your modeling.

Do they force you to design classical buildings? If not, why did you choose to do that?

I am very curious.
Could you tell me the background of the project a little bit?

*Did you choose this language yourself? or it is given?
*What kind of degree are you getting?
*Have you been doing this kind of design through school years, or occasionally?
*What is your attitude toward designing medieval buildings in 21st century?
*On what aspects of your work do you think you need criticism?

I'm totally open minded about this project. just very very curious.
Looks like you did everything painstakingly, with rigor. This is a serious work.
Before commenting on them, I have to chase those big ??? away.
