  • Corten Steel Detailing

    Hi,

For my current design project I have a junction between white render and corten steel. To prevent any staining from the Corten into the white render I am looking for a detail similar to that of the Caixaforum in Madrid. I was wondering if anyone could help with this detail or something similar?

    Thanks in advance.

(Sorry if this is in the wrong place moderators)

Here is an image of the detail that I mentioned above. There is some slight staining evident though.

        Beautiful job!

It's only 4 years old and that staining will likely intensify locally, but I think it shouldn't harm to brickwork. If anything it'll enhance in my opinion.
But to your white render under Corten. Either design and detail to use the 'problem' or ditto to avoid it. Perhaps parapet capping and flashing designed to carry it away from the rendered surface. Perhaps parapet capping and flashing designed to create the most spectacular long term graffiti art wall in the district.

have a look at "stain" house from lekker design. Is yours a real project? or just theoretical?

For 'designed staining', have a look at the Rémy Zaugg studio by H&dM.

Thank you very much for the replies guys. Some very interesting projects recommended there. I was more looking for the prevention of staining, I think something like what Simon is talking about with a capping and gutter detail to move the rainwater away from the rendered wall. I was just wondering if anyone had any examples. May just have to be a specific detail designed for this project. It is just a hypothetical project, I was just interested in various precedents with similar scenarios.
