Carme Pinòs graduated as an architect at the ETSAB in Barcelona in 1979.
In 1983 she formed a partnership with Enric Miralles, which ended in 1991.
During this period they made the Igualada cemetery, the archery center for the Olympics and the La Llauna School.

In 1991 she set up her studio and took under her charge the construction of several projects initiated in her previous office. among them the Rehabilitation of the Suburb Vilaseca de Sant Vicens de Torellò, The community center and Auditorium in Hostalets de Balanya, la Mina Community Center and the Boarding School of Morella, this last been awarded with the Spanish prize in 1995.
She has combined this with teaching, being a guest professor at Columbia, Harvard and the Ecole polytechnique de Lausanne.

Here a plan on how to get there...

From in Barcelona by car: direction N-II road Lérida-Madrid

1.- to pass the gas station
2.- not to catch the exit toward Mollerusa
3.- catch the exit toward fair precinct!
4.- first roundabout, your road continues being toward the fair precinct
5.- second roundabout, to catch the direction that indicates Torregrosa
6.- ¡STOP SIGN! and placard toward the present agricultural school "Look for It", The building of Carme Pinós is large and white.

The 'Cube Tower' is Spectacular! Amazing and well scaled public/street space below the building. The raised volumes and piers are articulated and proportion nicely.

The volumes are very clear. Clarity is one of my favorite things in architecture. I am presuming that the cores are in the concrete piers, and office space in the darker volumes. Opening up the interior to a light and air well makes you think of the quote:

'The importance of the vessel is not the clay solid, but the space that it creates.'

Did I sufficiently crap all over that quote, or can you still make out the intent.

Thanks for the post! Great designs.
