Hi there,
Hope someone can give me some advice.
I´m planning a small summer trip to Belgium. Just 5 days 4 nights. From Tuesday till Saturday.
We want to visit Bruxelles, Brugge and maybe Gent.

We arrive to the Charleroi Airport like 10am on Tuesday. We are planning to go directly to Brugge that day. Staying Tuesday and Wednesday nights there.
On Thursday visit Gent and then sleep on Bruxelles.
Friday stay on Bruxelles and sleep there aswell. Saturday we are leaving at 21:00h. So I´m not that sure thats the best planning

Is Gent worth a whole day? Does Bruxelles? Should I stay one more night in Brugge?

I would appreciate if you could tell me about transportation, travelling times, how far this places are, and their costs... that kinda stuff. Best deals?
Also some info about cheap youth hostels in Bruxelles please, I´ve already have a reservation on Brugge.

and of course ARCHITECTURE! what I shouldnt miss.

Thanks !!!

Hello.

You mean this thuesday 12 at the airport ?
I have to be in Ransart thuesday morning. Very near the airport. 10am is a little early but if your flight is delayed, I can take you to the railway station.
Send me a mail ..

There are trains from Charleroi to Brugge at 10:35 / 11:05 / 11:35 AM
But you have to change train in Bruxelles.
See image attached.

I was in Brugge in july. Very nice.
Here is the official city website
http://www.brugge.be/internet/fr/toerisme/bezienswaardigheden/Nieuwe_architectuur.htm

The concerthall is a must see
architects : http://www.robbrechtendaem.com/

There's also a 'pieta' from Michelangelo and one billion churches.

You can book a room online

Cheers

you thought "in brugge" sucked?

It had two manky hookers and a racist midget, what more could you want in a film!!!!

The whole plot of the movie converges itself into action during the last half hour. The remaning hour's of the movie were prolonged, slow & I found them boring,But was rewarded with the architectural beauty of bruge!!.

However imdb gives it a high rating of 8.1

Hope we are'nt getting out of the topic!

I advice you to check the websites of the city's you go to.
You find a lot of info there about hostels, architecture, tourism, etc.
www.brugge.be
www.gent.be
www.brucity.be/

http://www.ilotsacre.be/site/nl/default_nl.htm
to visit: atomium, manneke pis, grote markt, le palais de justice, the rue neuve (shopping), ...
If you like tensile structures you should go to metrostation erasmus (line 1B). It's a station designed by Philippe Samyn (http://www.samynandpartners.be/).
Victor Horta was a famous belgian architect (art nouveau) (http://www.hortamuseum.be/)

Gent is certainly worth a day to visit. Ther's a lot of architecture from the middle ages.
to visit: churches, belfort, graslei, veldstraat (for shopping), patershol (nice neighberhood with very small streets), etc. It's a very nice city with very nice people.

Brugge is known as 'the venice of the north'. there's a lot of architecture from the middle ages to. But i don't know that city very well.

Oh yeah before i forget: don't forget to take your umbrella to Belgium, because the weather here sucks.
