View Full Version : Architecture in Britain
Just thought I would post some of my best shots of Architecture in Britain. I only have a fugi compact so apologies if they are not very good!
Albert Dock, Liverpool
Hilton Hotel, Ian Simpson, Manchester.
Imperial War Museum North, Daniel Libeskind, Manchester.
Lowery Centre, Michael Wilford, Manchester.
Wow you really shot the difference between old and new architecture in the first picture! Imperial War Museum North really nice building! Very nice!
I like the shot in your first post in the top right hand side, it almost looks like a rendering. Mind my ignorance but what is the purpose of those protruding pieces on the facade?

I don't know for sure but I've seen similar 'fins' used to cut down eddy currents in the airflow around a building.....maybe this is the same reason in this building, due to it's rather smooth, featureless facade?? Just speculating....:D
Good speculation, was thinking that as well, but then thought arent they too small for that, and then I thought what the hell do I know :)
My favorite "Imperial War Museum North".

Not to be a pain...but the post would probably work better as seperate posts of each building. It would also help people later on find them.
Nice pictures.
