Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition 2008
Is it me or are these competition descriptions always very vague. I'm left scratching my head at this one...but it still seems pretty interesting
... well, It would seem that Moneo has been give $14.000 that he can hand out at his disgression to anyone who has enough free time and energy to design a theoretical housing project that fills two A1 boards and really wants to get published in A+U...
I don't understand why people are willing to compete in these kinds of competitions. I still haven't read it yet, but I think this falls under the category of competitions they are warning against in "how to be a happy architect" (http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8653). Unless you are a student who is getting studio credit for it, extremely frustrated with your day job, or just plain have a lot of time/money on your hands I just can't imagine finding the time to spend on this one.
Pick your battles (competitions) wisely...
Jimmern, you are right. This sounds like a second year studio project. I have been looking for a comp to flex some deisng cells on, though. I'm gonna look into it a little.

Haha, you guys are so right.
Schools should teach classes like "how not to waste your precious time on some stupid competitions" or "the art of picking the right competition 101"...
Back to Shinkenchiku comp, this year's theme is rather a better one than usual.
There are a lot of craps out there, things like "A house for a superstar", you know...
Just ran into this thread here about the 9-square grid (http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8791) which relates back to this competition.
