Hi

I have a specific interest in UCL, London which runs the BSc course.

There have been rumours that UCL graduates are not entirely popular with regards to employment... I think the reason was that they are not balanced in their skills...

So does anyone know about archi at UCL?

Just wondering how good it really is

Thanks :)

If you get access to the AJ there was a magazine 3opr 4 weeks ago called AJ100 and a poll of the 100 top architecture practices in the UK "which is the best architecture school" from memory more than a third said UCL, then 15 each AA, sheffield, cambridge, 3 Edinbugh etc
It does have a reputation as being glossy images and no substance though... I studied there for the diploma :D

I'd say most of the 'top' presentations in architecture schools have more graphic design than architecture in them at the moment, either as a result of the technology available or this style filtering down from UCL and the AA (or both).
I'd put the Bartlett (UCL) as my first choice if I had my time again, one main reason being that if you're studying outside London you're in the architectural sticks... there is a huge amount going on down there all the time and you do miss out on it by being outside. I imagine its a pretty tough school to get into...

If you are going outside London I'd look at Cardiff and Sheffield personally.

Nah I have never really been into studying a BSc. I know where my strengths are.

I don't understand, you seem to be in some sort of higher education for architecture just now? Bachelors degrees are the first ones you do... architecture should be BArch instead of BSc/BA really.

There is no difefrence between a Bsc and a BA. Just the name.

I'm not sure about architecture (I think most are BArch courses) but there is a difference in the two degrees, for example in a subject like pschycology its quite a big one- approaching the subject in two very different ways. So I'd be surprised if there wasn't a difference to warrant the variation in titles in architecture.

just to make things more confusing....i got a BSc (architecture) after third year, a BA(Hons) after 4th year and then an MArch on completion of my final yr of studies.....

This BA(Hons) then progression to MArch (or pgDip if u were unlucky) replaced the old BSc after third year and BArch (Hons) after 5th year......

dont u just love higher education.....:craqueur:
