Happy father's day to all!
C + C's are welcome.
mikaztro 17-06-2008, 15:14 Water Tips:
Maps: Displacement(M) -> Noise -> Amplitude(4.5), Frequency(2), Persistance(1), Size(15), Mix Ratio(0.5).
Diffuse: Pick a water map that you want to choose
Put Reflection and Refraction slots with default settings.
Castreli 19-06-2008, 01:30 nice dude, good tips! gracias
pfguerreiro 19-06-2008, 23:45 It is soo great. I've trying to use clip masks (with little sucess)
And this image is great. I'm goin to try your settings
can you give us a few tips on the clip..??
cheers
mikaztro 20-06-2008, 05:52 Hello pfguerreiro!
You need to use two jpegs. One that is clipped while the other is the alpha image of the clipped image.
Put the clipped image on the diffuse map, then put the "alpha" image on the transparent slot(m). Use invert function if the alpha clip map images are in reverse.
pfguerreiro 20-06-2008, 10:15 Thank you. I made a test with one tiff image (with transparent background), and the results were really bad.
I'm going to try that technique, thank you
pfguerreiro 20-06-2008, 19:32 Here goes... I've made it.
It was a bit tricky because i'm using vray with cinema 4d, and the configuration terms were not the same. Still, your information put me in the right track.
And I've used one Hi-def. Tiff with alpha chan. Instead of the two jpgs. I perfer managing just one file with transperency channel, so a tiff or a png or even a gif might just do it.
Thank you again your help
mikaztro 21-06-2008, 14:29 Nice result pfguerreiro! Do you have other bike/biking tiffs or pngs that I can barrow? My email: mikaztro@yahoo.com
Thanks
Mike
That's a really pleasing method & result. Suppose this is pretty much what the RPC entourage is.....only this way you end up with pictures of things that you actually want in your images!!! I'm off to sort out some clip maps of my own :)

I agree, It's pretty much the same result than RPC (with more control). No need of a software specific interface, and you actually using a "material" that means that you can save it.. it's free, you can use your own images (if you have the time or the need), and you can use it on any software and any platform.
Oh yes, and you can edit, ...color correct the image in photoshop to your specific needs before you use it.
I was doing this on the native cinema 4d render engine (10 seconds), with v-ray is even easier... it's like make your own "RPC" in 4 seconds. :)
If you need professional alpha, try : http://www.imagecels.com/ these are really really good.
Cheers
As for the displacement settings with the renderoptions what did you choose?
pfguerreiro 24-08-2008, 17:38 Ash.... it was all defaut. I din't mess with displacement. Just those 3 settings. Eventually you will have to disable default lighting that is ussualy on in most 3d packages.
Like I said, I'm no expert, so I try to keep things rather simple :)
What 3d software are you using anyway?
pfguerreiro 24-08-2008, 17:44 Still, I will see what the material file contains, and then I will tell you with all certain. I'm using Cinema 4d, so I used a Tiff with alpha chan. and put the image inside the difuse map.
This procedure might change, if you are using max, rhino or so...
I'm sorry I was talking about the water noise displacement mikaztro used :). I also came to the idea of making water with displacement but I never seem to get the scale right I can adjust UVW options all I want it doesn't work I have to make my objects 100 bigger so the waves are at a right scale.
