I've tried rendering a section in vray for sketchup, but cutting the section in the sketchup model, except it renders the whole thing, not the section? Does anyone know how to render a section?

View Full Version : Rendering a section jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 11:06 I've tried rendering a section in vray for sketchup, but cutting the section in the sketchup model, except it renders the whole thing, not the section? Does anyone know how to render a section? lef 24-04-2008, 11:56 use a plane + intersect with model jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 12:32 Right and delete what i dont need to make the section? A_Minima 24-04-2008, 13:15 That's the way I proceed. And I often need as many copies as needed sections... But it works. jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 13:20 As many copies please explain? lef 24-04-2008, 13:30 I guess A_Minima says that you must first copy the model you want to section... because it's faster than the undo command ;) and you never know ... It 's always good "a little backup"... (that's the way I do it too) jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 13:36 Ah i see, forgive me for I am dyslexic, it takes me a while sometimes! lef 24-04-2008, 14:42 no worries man! :) If you have any other questions let us know! jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 14:59 Anyone have any examplse of rendered sections they would like to share? lef 24-04-2008, 15:12 that's a section I made about a year ago ... su+3dsmax+vray+photoshop It not the maxim but made my tutor happy ... jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 16:02 nice i like it, will try and set mine up to render overnight, better finsish modelling the building! jazzythumper 24-04-2008, 20:48 The other question I wondered whether any ppbers could help me with is how do you render something so it isn't in perspective? As in i put the view in sketchup so it is just a section, not in perspective, but it still renders in perspective! Kristov Krusjev 24-04-2008, 21:28 My guess is that your rendering engine has a camera that is independent of the Sketch-up camera settings. cvankley 25-04-2008, 00:28 Yeah make sure you turn off the physical camera and then adjust the field of view. Physical camera is on by default usually and it will lock in the field of view, that is also why you'll notice that the vray renderings never exactly match the perspective from sketchup. gorgon 25-04-2008, 02:19 use a plane + intersect with model Right and delete what i dont need to make the section? These things might seem obvious to you lot but very helpful for me. Thanks  jazzythumper 25-04-2008, 09:20 What should the field of view be 0? JesseJacob 25-04-2008, 10:28 that's a section I made about a year ago ... su+3dsmax+vray+photoshop It not the maxim but made my tutor happy ... Thats a bloody nice section!. corrigible 25-04-2008, 20:13 nice section .... see the problem is getting that "1 point perspective" in SU. Is there anyway to do that or am i just missing something. lef 25-04-2008, 21:09 thanks guys! I was wondering about the " 1 point persp. " too ... anyone ? corrigible 25-04-2008, 21:12 :wondering :wondering hmmm. well i think if you change the FOV to 120 degrees and look at elevation in regular perspective mode it gets pretty close to a 1 point perspective drawing. lef 25-04-2008, 23:11 that's it!!! thanks corri! |
