Does anyone remember the street art centre project from PPB1? And if it was YOU can you repost it :D

I found it to be particularly interesting and was hoping to be able to see it again.

Cheers

and finally. I must repeat, this is NOT my work. I only downloaded it because I didn't realise Sketchup output could look so good.

Here is his write up from the original post [ I too made a copy for inspiration ]...

erm i think have some problem with my previous up load on the design write up. Anyway the following is part of the write up , I am still tidying the part on the diagrams together with the 4 design principal.thanks ...oH btw this is a student competition and we have to formulate our own brief ( that is one of toughest things - formulating programs!!!!)

I s s u e s
Street art is a special form of expression which enables public at all levels to partake in the creation of art spontaneously and con currently. Its value lies in the creative activation of gaps in urban fabric- alleys corners and back lanes which are otherwise meaning less to the memory of urban experience can be enliven and bridged to other activities auch as shopping, eating etc.
In Singapore , the attitude towards street performance is relatively restrictive . It is undeniable that controls are necessary to prevent the degeneration of our street scene, however, it is equally necessary to encourage practice of street art and promote the quality of performances.

Pr o j e c t D e s c r i p t i o n

The venue consists of lodging for artistes where performers invited to street arts festivals can reside . An Art Centre runs parallel to these elements and receives local artistes as well as students interested in various art performance skills. Various interspersed between the two element allowing for spontaneous interaction and collaborative act to occur.
The centre recognizes the value of urban performance in enlivening and bringing vibrancy to the everyday experience . It aims to create knowledge/ activites /network base in which street artiste can grow, at the same time it provide setting for public forum abt street arts. Hence the decision on what the public should and can see can be debated and reflected upon. The dialogue between public viewers and street artistes will serve to elevate standards and prompt further explorations in alternate art forms.

Design strategy
The idea of transitory space ( the street ) becoming a focal point underlies the move to create an environment that celebrates the everyday urbanism. The street is now both the stage and spectator stand. There are 4 main design principal
1) buoyancy
2) forum
3) improvisation
4) spontaneity

One unintended side effect of posting the zip is that a lot of folks avatar's were saved as well. I'm sure everyone has there's back now but it's nice for old time sakes...

How did you get old images??

I had downloaded them from PPB1 so that I could look at them for presentation technique precedents. Luckily they were still lurking on my hardrive somewhere.

Dont think its rocket science. the white background makes more of a difference than you think then it seems to be little more than some judicious use of masks to fade out areas of it and some pointing of light and reflections with the airbrush. Do a search for the Worncall technique here and you will see some ideas that might point you that way.

hmmmm... thank u so much sir... but to be honest i dnt understand nothing bout photoshop... unfortunatly i study in a town which doesn't have literally no tutors for photoshop... though i have the software (it's like i have the axe and dnt knw wht to do with it....) infact it's hard to find a tutor even for a basic software like autocad.... such a shame....

I dont think there is any value in software training of any sort. I think you learn less from being taught than you do by just getting stuck in and trying it and doing your own independent study with the wealth of info thats available on the net. Photoshop doesnt require any skill to use, its just a series of buttons that you learn to push and any monkey can be trained to do that. The skill only comes in terms of judging what to do with it and that 'eye' is something you either have or you dont.

That is very true, I think I know about 1% of photoshop (if that!) and because I believe I have a good I get good results from the limited knowledge I have.
