XXS House by Dekleva Gregoric
Krakovo
SI-1000 Ljubljana
Slovenia

How to get there:
Krakovo is within walking distance from the center of town.

If you go there try out the restaurant which is in the house next to the XXS House.

eXtra-eXtra-Small House is located in a specific part of the centre of Ljubljana. The neighbourhood called Krakovo has a structure of a historical village, which was in the Middle Ages supplying the nearby monastery with fresh food and is today highly protected historical area. The basic dimensions of the new house were already defined by law according to the volume of the pre-existing house, hundred years ago working as a service building of a traditional house next-door.

An interesting house.
I recently had the opportunity to see Tina Gregorič do a presentation of this house, among other projects, and it's interesting to see how they worked a way around a regulation concerning the slope and height of the roof, by using that "lump" visible in post #9 to place the windows and increase the interior height of the upper level.
The stair is cleverly designed and looks great, although she said that the house is currently used as a kindergarden for her young son and the stair is more of a big concern now...

Hehe I haven't try the restaurant, but the other place next to XS house, is Ljubljana faculty of architecture, which I have been trying for half a year. :D And I liked it. The new architecture of Slovenia is great and I think it deserves for more threats like this.

XS house in wintertime:
