Hey! that's my friend Jürgen!
We went to the same school, he being one year ahead of me.
Somehow he came over to my desk in the studio one day and we became friends.
When he came to Japan, we went to see many architecture together, visiting offiices (there was Zaha Hadid office in Japan twelve years ago), went out to have drink.
It is amazing to see he's doing what he was doing in the school, just getting more eloquent.

You can see from the photo, he is really the politest person I have ever met.
Can't believe he is making his way up in this cruel world.
It has been five years or so since I got a letter from him (which I didn't write back, unpolite and lazy as usual).
Now I have to write him an email.

Edit: Hey we are back in touch again, thanks to ppb!

While looking for information about the Metropol Parasol for this thread (http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=100706#post100706), I came across this interesting web resource about J. Mayer H. , downloadable in PDF format - LINK (http://www.baunetz.de/arch/talk/appletalk_e/index.php?cat=Startseite&nr=10)

Berlin Architect Jurgen Mayer

Unfortunately his website is in German, and.. Mein Deutch ist nicht sehr gut.
Maybe some of the German Pushpullers could interpret. I did glean this from other sources (who shall not be named):
J. MAYER H. works at the intersection of architecture, communication and new technology. From urban planning schemes and buildings to installation work and objects, the relationship between the human body, technology and nature form the background for a new production of space.

Altough Metropol Parasol final look is still a mistery it might look closer to the images in the link provided by vOid.

Jürgen Mayer H. has recently finished the private villa MRMM near Ludwigsburg in Germany.
The house is more widely known under the name Dupli.Casa

Dupli.Casa

The geometry of the Dupli.Casa is based on the footprint of the house that previously was located on the site, originally built in 1984 and with many extensions and modifications since then. The new building echoes the „family archeology“ by duplication and rotation. Lifted up, it creates a semi-public space on ground level between two layers of discretion. The spatial configuration of the villa performs a sophisticated connection between inside and outside and offers spectacular views onto the old town of Marbach and the German national literature archive on the other side of the Neckar valley.
