<I browsed through the post of Juan Gomez-Velez just this morning and was inspired to do a hypothetical house with similar topology. I hope this is the proper thread (just inform me if not). I wish to post this somewhat like a WIP, where input from members here would be considered towards creating the FW.
<This would be a vacation sort of house located on a cliff overlooking a body of water. The space requirements which are also scribbled in the sketch I made an houre ago will be as follows:
<level 0: garage, utility area, entrance .
<level -1: kitchen, toilet, dining with deck, living room.
<level -2: 2bedrooms each with toilet.
<The overall design will not be formal hoping to reflect the topology which could be rough. I wanted a house which would maximize the view looking out but which would also look striking when seen from across.
<Goal will be to create a quick model in SU, have some perspectives, elevations & sections & maybe a final view in 3DSmax.

<PLans & model would be done directly from sketchup. I will post more as soon as I have started.

cheers

I can see you're going to have some fun with sketchup here, if your looking for inspiration, I know this building isn't a house infact its part of whipsnade zoo, but it was in a recent Architects journal and the architectural language used would proably suit that of a 'cliffhanger' house (I'd love to see sly stallone appearing in your work too!!!) Have a look unforturnately there are no pictures on the architects website Proctor and Matthews but it appeared in 01.09.05 issue of the AJ

This is a very good example of your conceptual development, I think. I like how you are showing the project coming alive from the sketches.

good luck.

It's very interesting to watch this evolve. Where does the fragmented approach come from?
Good luck and keep us up to date.

Raked glass always bothers me, call me anal but someone has to clean them and in this configuration much more often, in fact more then likely once weekly or look through stain coloured glasses.

Pointy decks also are usually almost unusable. sometimes form should follow function particularly if these areas are intended for use.

Great to see someone thinking develop. Thanks for posting.

<I think & concur with richard about the slanting glass. I will try to work around it & see if I get the same impression as it is now. The deck I believe will be usable as it is. There wil be a column through it supporting a canopy.
