This is, and has been an ongoing project for these past ten years. It's a house, set along a steep hillside, to be made up concrete and steel. It has been my most personal project, my home.

This is conceived as a four level structure, accessing from above to a rooftop terrace and carport, going down a staircase, past the living quarters at the second level to the third and main one, where a multiuse 'great room' is flanked by the real pedestrian access and the kitchen at either side, the main forward terrace and the two level library front and back, respectively.

The lowermost level is the master suite, that opens to a triangular plunge pool.

All the fenestration is made up of full height fixed windows and sliding doors. The overhangs support the cementitious crate-like sunscreens. They are also meant to throw off your sense of scale, hopefully to make the house seem larger than it truly is.

Originally the project had no roof over the uppermost terrace, I added this as a response to my family, for they wanted a large roofed and shaded one.

I am now participating in a subdivision project that will earn me a parcel of land. I feel that this project would go well on this particular tract, and if I am to continue, being the stubborn and hard headed designer I reluctantly admit to be, I must open this for your comments and suggestions, for they are truly those I wish to hear.

The floor plans are drawn up, I shall post them once I reach my office on Monday. ( yes, I will work on Labor day ).

Saludos

Juan

Try shutting of your profile (line widths), by unchecking the profile in display settings and repost one of your main shots for me :)

I think the heavy line weights are taking away from your drawings.

I am really taken by your plan Juan! It brings to mind Lou Kahn for some reason. I must encourage you to reinforce the reading of your 4 solid corner piers on the inside so the heirarchy of support and infill you have suggested rings true on the inside as well as out. These strong corner piers must be felt as a presence in each of the rooms they pass. The bathrooms upstairs should bring to mind the spiral stair case of a european cathedral, the spiral stair on the lower level should feel carved out of the solid pier.
