I would wait till you do to post in the future. The way you post is a direct reflection on you. You could even just link to some info if you don't have the time to write something up...then do it later.

Welcome to the world of Joel Sanders!

I published Sanders first here in the pushpullbar cause we had the most exciting discussion during reconstructing this building.

Sander`s world is a world of success, fitness, hygiene, sex and voyeurism – and a delicate confrontation of private an public – his understanding of living and his architecture come along together (it remembers me of the Italien architect and designer carlo mollino)

Good example is the 24/7 business hotel

The corridor is a business lounge – transparent sleeping, minipool and bath and in a glasbox out on the fassade a training machine for wellness

The Project we have choosen is one of a serie of residential houses:

The arriving with the machine has a good inscenation – You are looking into the main hall (4 / 12 meters) – that`s small for a house but a lot for one room – full glass just separated from the street by a functional corridor and a wall – ( so like his project “the unprivate house” I would call this the unprivate room of this building – private areas sanders gets by manipulating the landscape – the whole ground to the north is 1,5 meters lower – here are the sleeping rooms.
There is no interior connection between hall and these..
And as the car is looking into the hall, a big screen outside is “projecting” the world.
The green roof reflects the southsun into the hall and at the same time makes a cut through it.

Another important part is the swimming pool in sanders project – prominent positioned – and connecting the two parts of the house.

After finishing modelling we had a long discussion about rituals and rhythm of live in this house – maybe sanders architecture it is not a promenade architectural – more a catwalk – and always it is like in theatre – there is a strong regie playing and manipulating the visitor.

I like Austrian English.:D
It`s a nice form of English, as long it`s not practised by Mr. Arnold Schw.
:D

Your model is nice done. The infos about Sanders are informative. In which university do you study. In which course was Sanders discussed?

Is this Sanders Joel related to Sanders, one of the makers of the Chile Pavillon of the world exhibition New York 1939? By the way this building is destroyed. It was exhibition architecture.

Hi Jo!

In fact it is Tyrolean English - where I studied! I make this Project Analysis with Stangl Thomas (he modeled this house!) just privat on weekends

started it, cause in our competitions I always try to develop sketchup models from zero.... like this I can compare in the end model and reality...

Sorry - I couldn`t find a connection to the sanders of the chile pavillon...

Joel Sanders - Kyle Residence, Houston, Texas, 1993

First off all thx taulajoe for the model.
I got inspired by Joel Sanders some years ago along with Neil M. Denari (http://www.nmda-inc.com/index_content.html) during my first year in contact with architecture. Back then it opened new and different perspectives how space could be introduced. I happen to have the book from Sanders so I will post some extracts from that.

The Kyle residence takes as a point of departure the Farnsworth house by Mies van der Rohe. It reconsiders the modernist concept of transparency in the context of the contemporary American suburb. Unlike Mies's glass house, a solitary object set in an expansive rural setting, the project is sited on a constricted suburban plot surrounded by neighboring houses.
The design transforms the utility core of the Farnsworth house into a protective appliance wall that follows the setback lines of the site. From the outside, this high-tech fence establishes visual privacy. But when viewed from the interior, this opaque boundary dematerializes: the Astroturf roof, which shelters the master bedroom, and the reflective glass-enclosed lap pool seem to raise the level of the horizon, replacing unsightly views of neighboring properties with a series of constructed views of a synthetic "nature" in which lawn and water meet open sky.

Good fences, Good neighbors

Neighboring properties disappear from the view inside the house; the western glass exposures frame constructed landscape views of water and lawn against the open horizon.

thx for the plans!! - in fact I had just a part of these pics (and now no more..) - there is another funny one showing how exact sanders is searching focus and orientation:

Good work!

I would like to know the 3d software you use for rendering the sketchup model

thanks

This house would not be appropriate for Houston, Texas. I can see why it was never built.
