View Full Version : DDC - Dick Deck Chair
DDC (Dick Deck Chair),
Designed by Richard Jeffrey today, Sept 01, 2005
Availability: who knows maybe one day.
Chrome Frame with Rattan webbing.
takesh h 01-09-2005, 10:46 It should be KDDC, and you know what it stands for...
Yes it is a beauty, but you are going to scrape the floor every time you sit on it! :D
sigue2000 01-09-2005, 12:35 A beautiful chair! Thanks for posting.
Maybe you should bend those runners a bit to avoid tilting on uneven ground. Or will the 'soft' frame to sort that problem? Looking forward to the long version. :rock on:

Simply wonderful!
Although it may be comfortable bound by walls it probably would feel more at home unleashed and outdoors.
You seem to feel the sun over, and the beer next to you. Or would it be the shades and the girls around you? Thank you once again for sharing your remarkable skills with us all.
As always, your friend and fan in the caribbean.
Juan
The Chaise version.
Enjoy and thanks guys, glad you like it.
Beautifully designed and modelled. :not worth
Great job, mate!

Mate are you going to the SU seminar in sydney in Sept. Might be an opportunity for syndey side SU users to catch up?
I'm not going as the course is rather start up user like, but still might make my way down to put faces to names!!!!

Mate I only found out second hand too!
Here is a link (http://www.sketchup.com/?sid=34) to the dates and details, basic and intermediate levels are both rather basic.
Gummy_Void 06-09-2005, 04:48 I think that it might be a good excuse to catch up anyway.
what do you think?
Is this idea worthy of a new thread?

beautiful lines
'simple is the best' motto
what's the price tag (estimated)?
Hope I will see it someday!
WilsonMetry 03-10-2005, 04:00 Absolutely simple and elegant. Easily made too. :)
Great job, Richard.
You are obviously an accomplished furniture designer.
Ryo
Mate, is that a new bub? You've either been a busy man or slack at not undating the photo's I've never had kids but surely they grow faster than that?
Mate no price tag at this stage, just a SU moment! As we all have I'm sure!!!
Thanks mate!!
Wilson
Not really mate, below is the only piece I've designed (although I did make all my own furniture for my room about the age of 13. I was lucky that my mother and father had no idea the risk in use of power tools. They had given me a grinder, drill, power saw and blow torch years before that time.) plus the desk I posted here and a buffet posted to PPB1 (now dropped as the desk to replace).

actually this is my daughter you see on the avatar. she is nearly 1 year old now and on the previous avatar I was with my son (3 years and 2 months now).
I recognise your design-skilled eagle-eye in this remark

sigue2000 03-10-2005, 10:44 Hi Ryo,
would you post your RC Car again please?
It it still one of the most remarkable models I have seen done with SU. :craqueur: And a good reference for the capabilities our favoured software.
Sigue, it's done already. Check Ryo's OPTIMA (http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=868&highlight=optima) thread. Pure beauty :rock on:
WilsonMetry 03-10-2005, 20:31 Richard, if you say so, I still think your a damn fine furniture designer. :D
If we all keep placing Richard's chair in our interior perspective, someday Vitra or Herman Miller will hear about this chair and they'll try to copy it... or ask you the permission to produce them :D
Wilson
Thank you mate!!
Ryo
Wouldn't that be awesome!!!
franjayo 04-10-2005, 06:02 Nice Richard, a model is a must.
How do you think the two metal tubes will connect? Could it be made of just one bent metal tubular piece connected around the top?
Fran
I'd consider horizontal elements would be a must to tie it together for one to enable the return / fix of the rattan webbing.
I like it but I'm pretty sure that something very similar is already in production. I had a quick look today but couldn't locate it. If is see it again (saw it recently) then I'll post it up. Nice work though KD :rock on:

Can you do this in Photoshop so I can get a better understanding of the project. :)

You were saying that one day they may want the design, I didn't think they would just steel it!!!!!!
Classic
Archjake 05-10-2005, 04:26 Yes, nice design. like all the other chairs I admire, I would love to take a seat in it. Its the final test. :)

that look soooo slick, I wonder if it's actually confortable.
these days so much content is dried up because of image. :(
Heres something to show my appreciation. My first maxwell render after your convincing effort to simplify the Maxwell interface. :craqueur: :craqueur:
I hope its decent enough for your 5 - star project.
( Btw nice design and model)

....and the render (revised)
Hope its better now.
Richard, sell it to Ikea, that way we could all afford one, or tow!

Great to see you getting something out of Maxwell mate!!!! Looks like you have more than a hang of it now!
Nice job too, though it highlights the bad rattan texture tiling and the explode of the tile on the tubing. Might see what I can do to remedy that.

I totally agree withyou mate. I was trying to much to show textures and missed out on the fact that its the chair that you are selling and not the render.
I will rectify it as soon as i get some time. :o :o
Sorry mate I wasn't talking about the floor tiles, I was talking about the chair fabric that repeats too much and goes haywire on the curved tubing.
