ARCHITECTS SOUGHT IN CIVIC CENTER DESIGN COMPETITION
Web-based registration now available to all interested professionals
The City of Lake Elsinore has launched a new Civic Center Design Competition Web page to attract and register interested professional applicants.
City officials say this is the first step in promoting its new Civic Center Design Competition. “We want more than a new City Hall,” according to City Manager Bob Brady, “The City Council is eager to invite qualified professional architects, urban planning firms and engineers to develop a community focal point and visionary approach to experiencing downtown.”
Officials expect the competition to spark creative and innovative approaches to the design of a new multi-purpose Civic Center, identified as the centerpiece of a comprehensive economic redevelopment plan for the City’s Historic Downtown. The Civic Center Design Competition was approved by the City Council in February of this year and is modeled after similar design competitions.
The winning design will be selected by a special jury and prizes will be awarded. Details of the competition will be provided in a Competition Brief to be distributed to registered applicants in May. Officials encourage all interested applicants to register now and continue to visit the Web site below for informational updates.
The online registration form, with competition information and eligibility requirements, can be found at
www.lake-elsinore.org/designcompetition.asp.
The City of Lake Elsinore is one of the fastest growing cities in Riverside County, with a prime location on the I-15 freeway in southwest California, about mid-way between San Diego and Los Angeles metros. A boom town founded 119 years ago, the City has become a tourism destination for professional baseball, water, motocross and air sports, and extreme recreation. The City recently launched a new identity branding campaign with the slogan, “Dream Extreme,” based on its active lifestyle, economic development potential and recreational opportunities.
