Can anyone recommend a simple (free) program to open and use .tiff files?
Thanks N |

Thanks; just had a quick look- just downloaded faststone. A stupid question; how do you view the .tiff full size file size about 10mb

I've just opened a 55MB TIFF file in Irfan view so file size is not a problem - just double click on the file to open it and as Arv says, press the F key.

I tried so many graphic apprications in order to use .tiff, and found irfan the best - it even opens multi-page tiff files and let you navigate between pages like they should.
Its print dialogue box offers so many options in such a simple interface. Making them understandable and actually usable.

I use iView, but it's not cheap. It was recently acquired by Microsoft & previous users were offered a free upgrade. I failed to get it installed, read the support boards, saw the number of 'complaints' and decided to keep the old version.
Also on the Mac (and shareware) is GraphicConverter. One every Mac should have installed. |

Nicholas,
You could use GIMP http://www.gimp.org/about/ which is free and very capable (about as capable as Photoshop 5, in my opinion) if a little complex. There is a variant version called GIMPshop, which attempts to simplify the interface (by making it similar to that of Photoshop) http://plasticbugs.com/?page_id=294 (and it does a decent job of that, but is less stable on Windows). --Lewis |
