I was engaged in this competition two times. The only restriction seems to be you have to be maximum 40 at the date of the limit term of the competition and to be professionaly allowed to participate in the country site you're working in. Just ask if Canadian architects are allowed to work with their diploma in the country you choose to participate.

The rules call for no specific nationalities.

Does anyone understand what they are looking for?
They really need an editor.... The language is so dense... I read the following: Quote:
But to find out you need to pay $100 euros or something. I don't competitions like this. I am spending a dime until I know what the brief is. Anyone have one of the competition briefs? Next question, can American Architects participate? I am licensed in Illinois... How does that work? Last edited by makeArchitecture; 05-03-2007 at 03:51.. Reason: obfuscation |

About your other question check out here: Sample question: I have a non European nationality and I am living and working outside Europe, can I participate to Europan? The team leader have to be an architect or a person authorized under the national law of the country where the site is located to be responsible for the design and implementation of an architectural or urban project. Whatever are the nationality and/or the place of leaving, only is taken in account the fact that the diploma is an European one or that the practice is already recognized in Europe, in accordance with competition rules in force in the participating countries I think the answer might be no, but you should check with your national body AIA? There are often repricocity agreements - you can work in some countries and they can work in yours. Sadly though I think the US might not have these - I think they revoked the agreement with UK about 10 years ago, but check with each country. Last edited by gorgon; 05-03-2007 at 05:00.. |

I'd like to second that request. Does anyone have a competition download? It doesn't even have to be for this year - previous years info would be useful to see.
I have narrowed my interest down to 6 sites but am not sure how to proceed, obviously can't do all six also can't afford the 300euros to get all the briefs... Also Does anyone have one of these catalogues of previous competitions? Are they any good? Worth getting? or just a catalogue of barely readable drawings? at 65euros I need some convincing

europan
best and most organised competition in europe. Most countries offer the financial help and professional advice to set up a practice to build the winning competition. It is also the competition with the most prestige (i know a few people who have won in practice and academia who have great success)
Mccreanor Lavington in Nederlands is a good example of a v successful practice who have sucessfully used europan to get where they are. I am currently thinking of putting together a team (i am meeting a few old uni friends and som people in practice in manchester thursday) to do the next one if anyone is interested in joining us? You never know if we won one of the sites we could have the first online architecttural parctice "pushpullbar associates" anyone? There is more than enough talent on here to really do something v special. Also never mind just europan, i think we should pick a competition every few months and collectivly enter.

I would love to use ppb to crit my entry but can't see how that is going to work? In terms of elligibility I called the Architects Registration Board in the UK who pointed out this pdf on the ARB website of european countries with repricocity - i.e. if your country is on the list you can automatically work in any of the others. What sucks for me is that my favorite site is in Croatia and its not on the list! I know how you must feel makearchitecture
