Looks like Calatrava's "Turning Torso" is now open for business. Do we have any locals with some shots?

I live in Copenhagen, which is just one strait away. I'm going across the bridge to Malmö pretty soon, and I'll make sure to take some pictures of it.

Malmo's new neighbourhood is funky, environmentally friendly and the envy of architects worldwide. There's just one problem. The locals hate it. Steve Rose reports for THE GUARDIAN (http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1558344,00.html)

I know some people who live there, and they are quite happy with it. :wondering

As I understand it's the locals from other parts of Malmo that hate it. Most of the people who live in the new part (where the Calatrava Turning Torso is) love it. However because it costs so much to live there it has bred a certain envy/resentment for the residents that live elsewhere in the city.

Well one of them is a student of architecture, goes to school with me in Copenhagen. But her boyfriend is a sailor, and he is happy with it as well. And they live in student housing where the rent is really cheap. So the article is not entirely fair to state that the area is ONLY for rich people. There are some social projects there as well, and student housing. Until this article, my general impression was, that most people from Malmo were quite proud of this new part of the city.
Of course everything hasnīt worked out as intended with this project, and there are some problems. But I just refuse to believe that because of some criticism, we should abandon efforts like this and just continue with unsustainable urban sprawl.
Of course it is true that most of the families there have a higher than average income, and it is not good to separate social classes in different parts of the city. But this is not only happening in Malmo. In Copenhagen, where I live, all the new waterfront developments are too expensive for regular people to live.
The article pretty much states that this is the root of why some people donīt like Bo01, that it is only for the chosen few. Hasnīt this been a problem with the whole New Urbanism movement in the United States, that the residential projects have been very expensive?

Anyway, I like the BO01 area, Its a nice place to visit on a weekend, and when I have been there there is plenty of life in the street and in the cafés. Maybe the fact that I like it, being a student of architecture, is proving the article right. :wondering Is there really such a huge gab between architects and "normal" people?

i thought it was in operation since last year? anyway, i saw a tv show on it and they actually went into one of the apartments. gosh, it was amazing. the whole apartment is white in colour with only the glass walls which provides colours to it. oh, and the apartment is pretty spacious. the owners were happy with it because of its architectural feat but also the customer services which it provides.
