House in Playa del Golf (Peru)
Some background: Asia is a high class beach development about 100kms of Lima in Peru. The 4-5 kms long development is organized into beach clubs which have their own architecture regulations to help get a "uniform look" for the development. All of the beach clubs have this in common: the House HAS to be white. (Even from google it looks white).
Project - Single Family Summer weekend House Location - Playa del Golf, Asia, Peru Type of Project - Weekend House Design Parameters - You could use 100% of the lot as long as you comply with the National Construction Regulations (which has a very strict natural light/ventilation parameters. Wood is allowed in it natural form or painted white. There has to be a 4m setback towards the beach for a terrace. The house had to be 3m tall measured from the boardwalk. It has to open railing. The house had to be 1 story but you could use the roof as a terrace and you could use light structures for roofing over that. The "design parameters" book is 10 pages long .... this is what I can remember... Design Approach - The owners wanted to have 1 master bedroom, 2 kid's bedrooms and a guest bedroom each with its own bath. They wanted the service area to be as separate form the house as possible. And they wanted the living-dining to be oriented parallel to the beach (this came out after my first proposal). My idea was to create 3 volumes articulated by these light corridors. One for public areas one for private and another for guest/service. They also wanted not to use the whole roof as a terrace so this articulation helped me in preventing the terrace to be a continuation of a roof. Instead the terrace is the roof of a complete volume and you have voids around it so kids can't jump to the roof of the adjacent volumes...and it looks cleaner... |
