COMPETITION OBJECTIVES

Planet earth is getting more crowded. In some cities the population is expanding with double digit growth percentages. All these people need a home to live and space to move in. Boundaries of cities are being stretched further and further, thus irreversibly consuming the surrounding landscape and nature. Increasing density within the existing urban fabric may be a solution. Economic factors also demand a higher concentration of working, living and consumption environments in the new mega cities. FAR wants to seek attention for these developments and generate new ideas for a sustainable future.

RULES

The competition is simple: make a proposal for an urban environment of the future with only one rule: the floor area ratio of the proposed design should be at least 8. This means, the added floor area of the structure should be eight times its site area.

ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCEDURE:

All competition information can be downloaded at any time for free from the FAR website.
