Check this prototype designed in Munich.

The institute was approached in 2001 to look at the increasing problem for students to find affordable housing in munich. the program was started in collaboration with the tokyo institute of technology, where students studied the possibility of providing high-quality small-scale housing in a 2,55x2,55x2,55m cube.
The intention was to provide housing for students which form the enclosure for the four basic living functions eating, sleeping, working and hygiene. a futher aspect was to explore the modern form of lifestyle which has influenced society.

The i-home project reacts to changes of society. like a micro roller which is an in-between walking and cycling the i-home explores the gap between product and house. it can be easily transported and relocated and like a car be ‘parked’ in every minimal space.

Very interesting. If only the balcony was on the front side located towards the road instead of towards the nearby parking space, you could join together and connect several modules. Connected they could create a good party space above the parking lot.

That would be quite the cantilever for being able to manipulate a car into parking within a stall with a column at each corner of the parking stall. Turning radiuses would be a nightmare, even with a 2 seater...

It is rather interesting though...A modern solution to a motor home campground but only for students. I'd think about it as a good option if I were a student; way more freedom than the dorm that I lived in.

I can see spring break now being a massive relocation of all these mobile dorm rooms...and a ton of them lined up in Cancun.

The other problem is coming home after a night out of hanging out at the pubs, and backing into the post and knocking the thing over. Let alone grandma pulling out of the spot and taking out the entire structure.

This is the idea:
