I don't find the method to scale my textures in VRay for SU. Do you have this problem or a method to scale correctly the bitmaps ?:o

View Full Version : VRay texture scaling A_Minima 22-11-2006, 23:16 I don't find the method to scale my textures in VRay for SU. Do you have this problem or a method to scale correctly the bitmaps ?:o kwistenbiebel 23-11-2006, 00:27 I am not sure if i understand your question well, but i will try to answer it: Change the size of your textures in sketchup. Render output should be likewise. (sometimes it helps reselecting the faces, right click them and 'apply front material' on them to be sure changes are activated. If you import external vraymaterials make sure you apply the same texture images on the faces in sketchup. I hope this helps...i am still a noob myself. regards, Kwisten A_Minima 23-11-2006, 00:44 I hesitate to send you a private message to ask it but was sure you could help just by threading on the forum. Thanks, will try... A_Minima 23-11-2006, 00:54 Right cube with SU material (no VRay material tweaking). Left cube with VRay material applied to selected faces (all) of the object. The textures are supposed to be the same (same native bitmap and just applied as diffuse in the diffuse layer of the vray material). ???? kwistenbiebel 23-11-2006, 01:07 :o i must admit i can't answer your question (it's all new for me too) Maybe you can try to post this question on the vrayplugin forum. You will probably get the answer you deserve. link to forum: http://www.asgvis.com/phpBB2/index.php good luck A_Minima 23-11-2006, 01:10 Ok, find the problem. Just have to modify the UV tiling. My texteure was too short. UV scale 1 --> 0.01 (apply the same coef for the Bump). kwistenbiebel 23-11-2006, 01:28 way to go minima.:) When you pick the texture image (diffuse layer) you can see mapping options. If you choose 'Explicit Map chanel' it will take the sketchup texture size automaticallly. A_Minima 23-11-2006, 01:41 Yep. And after you don't have to forget to reaffect the texture. Automatic reaffection for the next release. A_Minima 23-11-2006, 01:41 Reaffectation A_Minima 23-11-2006, 01:42 A kind of Maxwell auto-MXM kwistenbiebel 23-11-2006, 01:55 What you say : "Maxwell"? .....brrrrrrrrr:puke: :D :D new toy in town A_Minima 23-11-2006, 17:28 way to go minima.:) When you pick the texture image (diffuse layer) you can see mapping options. If you choose 'Explicit Map chanel' it will take the sketchup texture size automaticallly. The problem is there's no way to apply bump to the <linked-texture>. And when I create a texture directly from VRay, I have to tweak the tiling amount cause the texture is'nt "linked" to the SU material UV map. That's a point the developer should study... siliconbauhaus 24-11-2006, 14:05 I havent had any problems applying a bump to a linked texture at all mate. A_Minima 26-11-2006, 14:47 That's strange 'cause even the developer write (ASGVIS FORUMS) you can't modify the diffuse linked-mat layer. And if you want to apply a bump to the linked-map you have to affect a bump to the diffuse layer (or I don't understand anything !). Could you post a pic with a base render and the mat configuration window, just to ook at you settings ? siliconbauhaus 27-11-2006, 18:17 Here's a quicky test using a different bitmap for bump with a linked material. The groove along the wall is modeled but the tie holes are from the bump map. A_Minima 27-11-2006, 18:25 The linked-mat bump possibility is running away for me... Since this afternoon, I can't just add linked-material !!! And for my texture scaling problem, no way... it's always the same... The VRay material I create and apply is rendered as a super low scale material. siliconbauhaus 27-11-2006, 18:32 If you havent done so already, I'd post it over at the asgvis fourm and perhaps zip your file up and email it to joeb or crubadue for them to look at it. I have found that sometimes once you've applied a vray material its very hard to remove it. When that happens I usually just copy and paste into a new file. A_Minima 27-11-2006, 22:49 It's the same mess with every scene I create. So I don't know where it comes from (certainly from me). kwistenbiebel 27-11-2006, 23:00 Minima, Make sure no surfaces in sketchup are selected when you try to 'add linked material'. (meaning no surfaces with the material that you are trying to link). It is a bug i found out yesterday and that i posted on the asgvis forum. (BTW...that test file is coming your way soon ;) ) A_Minima 27-11-2006, 23:12 That's what I understood. And to be sure of what I made, I didn't selected anything... kwistenbiebel 27-11-2006, 23:52 are you sure you have the latest beta? = beta 2 Otherwise i suggest reselecting the surfaces in Sketchup and assign a freshly created texture to both sides of those surfaces. Try to link that 'new' SU material again in the material editor. I bet this time it will work. A_Minima 28-11-2006, 00:37 Yes I'm sure to use the beta 2 and it doesn't work for me (nor for a friend at the office) And yes it works with the beta 1. And no, your solution of cleaning material and reaffect a new one or the same with an other name doesn't work. But no panic, wait for the beta 3 and it will be ok (I hope).;) |
