![]() It looks&feels like Vray for 3dsmax. The output is what you'de expect from Vray: nice, soft shadows, a nice sense of depth,... Speeds are great also: about 10 min for a 1614*888px render with a high quality irradiance map (standard Vray material applied). This will definitely become the renderer of my choice. Bye bye Maxwell! Back to "normal" render times. (This product's integration in Sketchup is way better than Maxwell's. I would however like to see the Vray materials I use applied to my sketchup model). |

well the beauty of it is it works all inside of SU..... do your materials as you normally would and then use the linked material

That will indeed be the problem.
Vray rendering is more complex than Maxwell rendering. You really need to read some good tutorials, or read the manual. I have to admit that - at the moment - I don't know how to fully use Vray myself, but I always thought it was one of the most interesting rendering engines out there. An the fact that it is now available for SketchUp, was the last thing I needed to really start learning all I can about Vray. |

I've had a bit of a play and it seems REALLY clunky!
The rendering parameters seem like they will take some time to workout and the material editor just seems to stall even if I try to close it. In fact often if I try to close the material editor it try to close SU. Material editing seems much more complex or clunky then Maxwell. I tried exporting a straight SU model to Vray without materials and seems most textures just get washed out, yet in maxwell you can almost get away without material editing. And I must say I really do like the way maxwell can render put materials via the automxm option rather than having to apply materials to geometry with vray the way you once had to in maxwell beta.
