Cube House I

This is yet another hypothetical formal study of architectura out of a cube. In this exersise, the only operation allowed was "slide" so all teh formal elements came out from sliding the cube's grid.

Project - Study
Location - Utopia
Type of Project - Formal Study
Design Parameters - A House with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living areas
Design Approach - It is part of yet another study of making architecture out of a 9 square grid cube. In this case the "only" operation allowed is "slide"
Tools/Programs- Sketchup and My Brain

Can't wait to hear your comments/critiques...
Soon I'll post cube house #2...

Another self imposed rule was to only open the sides (and only full size openings) that face the direction of the "slide"....

Interesting project, but I would say that their is a fairly large disconnect between the cube and your solution. Can you give us a little more infomation about the progression from your first image to the finished project.

One thing I notice about this project is, even though you have one orientation, the idea that these where slide from a single cube is totally lost by the final rendition. Is this intentional? If so, why start from a cube. I think that the memory of the cube would be desirable.

Hi ddelcast,

I like the idea a lot! But I totally agree with Imasayer. I can't read the cube in your solution.

Good luck and have fun!!
