not much to talk about yet, but I do hope you keep posting. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we love to see the ideas come to life from day one of the project all the way through to completion. Take us along for the journey. We won't bite...much.

What are you thinking about conceptually at the moment?

It's a first shot but you should think now where you'll place the stairs, elevator...
Or maybe your car park could be a slope in the ground and your hotel on pillars...

Ok I would certainly say you are in some sought of program and underway! Although I will suggest a few quick things at this point.

1. You have NO pedestrian access (stairs) from the carpark. Which I'm sure will be a must.

2. The basement costs to achieve such little yield seems excessive, I would on quick consideration it may be useful to consider an option for ground level parking along the rear boundary. I will certainly suggest the ramp / driveway / parking arrangement you have at present WONT work, too tight.

Some thoughts for you!

agree with pedro.

let's start with the basics, sunil.

what are your ideas regarding this project?

They would lead you to a various options in terms of access, parking, circulation, programme, etc.

i'm supposing that designing in the midst of empty land can be liberating and limiting at the same time. Liberating cos there are less restrictions. Limiting to the extent of what we know and don't know.

I'd have started with the design of the building itself and tackle site issues as i go along, so that it'll be intergrated.

Hi all, especially Richard who did a fantastic and critical analisis of the process which made me rethink about whole programme.(Now I am going to talk to the client who is insisting hard for the basement parking!!).

Pedro & Bera,
when i had the initial discussion with the client want to hav a very modern looking building(he seems to be fedup with vernacular style buildings).

The initial desgn which we are doing here is for his approval. And the condition is if he likes the initial proposal he will go with me. (He is pretty confident in me since he working with me as the carpentry subcontractor of our int. des. Firm!!)

The client is a down to earth man with a love for curvilinear forms and glass facades(which i gatherd frm the talks)

the hotel is ment for western tourists who is visiting india.

As a basic programme, this building will the tallest building with in a radious of 1Km. so the visibility of facades will be very high even from far away.

I was trying to start the design from an extrovert (out side to inside) point of view which will help win the contract with minimal work\time and then go deep into the internal functions.

Im attaching a napkin sketch ( dont blame me!!!) of an idea which came into my mind...!!!

And once agian thanks for the great people spent time on posting comments and keep doing so please..
