[REQUEST] Chicago

Hey everyone. Some of my studio classmates and professor are heading to Chicago for a 4 day weekend in 3 weeks. I have been up there a couple of times when I was younger but not for the architecture. Can anyone please give me some ideas on where we should go. We want to go see some Mies stuff and maybe Wrights things in Oak Park.

Are there any buildings that are a must see in Chicago? I know they have tons of stuff but are there buildings that anyone would recommend? Thanks.

Check out Millenium Park:http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/sh...7078#post57078
I've been pushing that place to everyone I talk to since my visit recently.

For sure:

Millenium Park
Seagrams Building
Lakeshore Towers

Maybe:

Oak Park
Robie House
Madanock Building
Auditorium Building
etc...

I am drawing a blank....trying to type a paper right now....give me some ideas and I will try and remember some of the other places we wanted to go.

Thanks.

Also on the list:
1. John Hancock Building Bar on the 96th floor at sunset. Buy only one drink. Everything is $10 (US). The line seems long for the elev., but it moves fast.
2. Apple Store on Michigan Ave. Sleek and cool.
3. FLW Unity Temple in Oak Park. It's close to the train, and if you check the schedule for services, go when one ends, you can walk right in and check it all out.
4. Go to Rush Street for drinking. Fun and cheaper than everything on Michigan Ave.
5. Contemporary Museum of Art. Clean and classic in form and scale. Lots of nice work in there.
6. The view from the Sears Tower is amazing! Pick it or the Hancock Building. Don't bother to do both. Say whatever you want about the tallest building. The Sears Tower still has the highest habitable floor on the planet! Its top floor is higher than any other in the world. It lost the tallest building race because it's communication antenae are not 'integral to the design'. Correct me if I am wrong here guys (I know you will), but It's way the hell up there.

There are a million places depending on your interests. Have a great time.

Niko, good call on the Seagram Building. You get to see the Calder sculpture as a bonus.
