[2nd year student work] 'RECUP' C-SIDE HOUSE

Hello people, this is my first thread on pushpullbar since my membership (2 minutes ago) I've seen some pretty cool stuff around here, now it's time to show the things I had to make during my 2nd year architecture at Ghent (same school as Tim and same year too actually)

Tim made this => http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1279 <=
Since my solution for the assignment got an F, I had to do it over and here's what I came up with

The assignment was to make something out of junk so I made an exhibition space and a janitor space to go with the exhibition space. And I wanted to have some kind of unity between those so there's a huge line that goes through the whole project, so you can walk from one side to the other without any interruptions. Plus there's natural ventilation along that line.

I made the whole thing out of the ships they wreck at the shipbreaking yard of chittagong (Bangladesh) so it's obvious my project situated itself at the sea. Anyone who's interested in the sketchup file is welcome to ask, I'll upload it on the internet as fast as I can, it could take a few days before I reply but you'll get it eventually, the PDF presentation is now on my space, but in time I'll probably post a JPG here on the forum.

There are still a lot more projects awaiting their turn to hit the internet, but I'll post those in time, hope you enjoy. And tell me what you think

I would like to post the sketchup file on the internet, but I don't want it to be distributed beyond pushpullbar, and I would like to add a user agreement but don't know how to put it so there won't be any misunderstandings, does anyone have an idea or user agreement to put in the zip file with the skp file? thank you

would it be possible to translate the text in englsh?...
It seems a very interesting solution but I would like to know why it has taken that form...?... it reminds me of works by Buckminster Fuller...was it a presedent?
the presentation looks nice as well...

Hrm...since u r having the site by the sea, i dont think it is a good idea.
imagine the natural forces...the wind generated by the wave currents...

probably but it's in fact pure hypothetical and since I'm only architect student and not an engineer it's not for me to decide what's necessary for this particular project to not swing in that particular region of the country, and not change a lot to the initial idea behind it. probably there will have to be a cable hanging between the middle of the boddom of the structure and the ground. I thought about all that but I thought also that the structure who's made almost entirely out of steel would be heavy enough to endure most of the winds. But yeah you' re probably right since nature can't be trusted

aahm ok I think translation isn't entirely necessary since it doens't really explain why my structure has this form but I'll explain to you how I came to this result.

I started off by looking at projects of buckminster fuller, the futuro house and other projects that are made out of triangular structures or orb related structures. then I had the idea of a composition containing 2 orb related forms, like a ufo or somesorts and I drew a geodesic orb in sketchup
scaling him till I became the 2 volumes I ended with now. simple as that. to ensure unity I connected them from one entrance to the other. and I hang those 'floors' on the structure who is enfact entirely triangular so it's retaining its form.

if you have any sketchup images you can post those, rather than the sketchup file itself.

that way all members are able to see your design without having to download the model.

the composition of your images will also tell stories about your design, if you know what i mean.

Also, could you please resize your images and post them directly, for poor folks like me whose internet speed is not as fast as yours? large images can take forever to load. thanks for your kind consideration.

I'm sorry at the moment I'm not on the computer that contains the renderings, when I find the time I'll resize those that are stored on my other computer and post them here
