I've got this mail from the director, and i hope to share it with you guys about it. :)
"Dear SketchUp user,
Thank you for your interest in V-Ray for SketchUp! I am writing to inform all of you about the development of V-Ray for SketchUp. I first should say, despite what you may have heard about V-Ray for SketchUp, the V-Ray development has been running at a very aggressive pace for the last several months. With that being said we promise that the long awaited release of V-Ray for SketchUp is just around the corner. All of you have asked when V-Ray for SketchUp will be released. We can only say as soon as possible because we are reluctant to give an exact release date for either the final release or the beta release at this time. However, we do promise to keep you all better informed of the development status.
There are still some details of the development of V-Ray for SketchUp for us to work out. We have and we are developing for SketchUp 5. Development plans for SketchUp 6 are in the works. Our first beta release will for sure be PC release only. We do have a port of V-Ray for the Intel based Mac. We are trying now to figure out what a build for the PPC based Mac’s will take. We are working with the Chaos Group very closely to develop a Mac OSX release of V-Ray.
I also want to take a minute to clarify something with regards to V-Ray and SketchUp. SketchUp to V-Ray is the original plug-in that we made for SketchUp. The images posted on the website are rendered with that plug-in. SketchUp to V-Ray is an exporter that sends scenes to the V-Ray Standalone. At this time last year we were not sure of the exact release date of the standalone so we decided to develop V-Ray for SketchUp. During the past 12 months or so we have been developing the first generation global user interface for V-Ray. It so happens that the demand for a Rhinoceros plug-in took priority over SketchUp. The Rhinoceros plug-in was released on July 17th 2006. So the majority of our development focus has now shifted to the final V-Ray for SketchUp 1.0 release. We will get the software to you all as professionally and quickly as possible.
I finally wanted to add that V-Ray for SketchUp will include the following:
V-Ray Physical Sky, Sun, and Camera
V-Ray Frame Buffer
V-Ray Material and Texture Editor
As with Rhinoceros 3D, we will not be including displacement mapping or distributed rendering with the V-Ray for SketchUp 1.0 release.
We can only hope that you all are as excited about this as we are. We are a sincere and small development team. We are committed to building great products, support, and service.
Best regards,
Corey Rubadue
Director"
