I've seen people post their school projects here so here is mine. This is my last school project... EVER. I attended a one year professional degree program at FAMU after few years of working. I didn't get the Master because I didn't want to do the extra year of school with a wife and a kid.
This project took 2 semester to complete... the first is analysis of the site and programming of the building. The second semester is the design and presentation of your project. The project is in Ybor City, Florida. I chose to do a Wellness Center. I'm not very theoretical or philosophical... I just did a practical over budget hypothetical building, enough for me to graduate.
Presentation wise... I was starting to get into sketchup and wish I was proficient at it at the time. Also, this is my last ever 3D CAD model... it was truly a pain to build something in an old version CAD. Rendered in VIZ... I'm not the best at these stuff but enough to do something. The elevations were rendered in Photoshop as well as the composition of all the boards. What I can truly say is that I enjoyed building the physical model. Love the X-acto knife and the Sobo.
The explanation of the project can be found in the text of the boards. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Last One... just the Floor Plans.
After posting these up, just realized how small are the text to read. Well, very briefly, the building is shaped as a long bar because of the site. The lobby seves as a control point and it divides the building into two components. The dry (fitness center, aerobics, admins) and the wet (pool, sauna, whirlpools) Some landmarks within the building are the 3 story climbing wall topped with skylight located in the main lobby to inspire physical activities as soon as one arrive at the door and the water cascading pool in the garden which sits on a glass container allowing natural light to get into the main corridor on the ground floor. Something kinda cool... there is a service platform (juice transport) from the restaurant on the first floor to the fitness center on the second floor. The massage therapy rooms on the third floor are located behind the water cascading wall... I imagine the water would sooth the environment.
Ground floor is retail, gift shop, internet juice bar, restaurant, health food store, main lobby, special event room, child care, whirlpool, therapy pools, rock climbing wall, and of course, loading, pool equipment, back of the house stuff.
Second floor is fitness center, aerobic rooms, fitness admin, garden with a water cascading wall, meditation room, lockers, steam rooms, saunas, juice bar.
Third is admin, acupucture, chiro, massage therapies, pool.
Curry P,
Congrats on your degree.
It is a strain to see your boards' text. Shame, they look like the result of alot of time and effort.
Could you zip them up maybe? Would that mean we could open them in another app (Preview/Acrobat) and see them up close?
I can't say much more since I only glanced through them. But I can appreciate that it must have been a huge project. Did you feel overwhelmed? From your comment about doing enough to get through the course it sounds like you must have set your self a massive challenge.
Good luck, hope you get some feedback from other students/graduates/constructive critics.
Side note: check out Grimshaw's "Bath Spa" buildings on-line. Brand new wellness centre open today!
Sincerely,
Gregg
Well... I don't have the time to go deeper in the analysis of your plans, so can we have closer shots of the real model, please?
especially the entrance area, which should be appealing, according to your words :D
thanks in advance,
Your presentation looks very pro !
NICE !!! sweet presentation ;)

Here it is... I'm attaching a zip file of the same drawings... bigger images so the text is more legible. Have to warn you though that some of my writing don't make much sense.
About the model... that's all the shots I have.
