TERENCE RILEY on Delugan_Meissl
The work of Delugan_Meissl Architects deserves close study for a number of reasons.
More than most young firms, they have been able to maintain a VITAL ELEMENT OF EXPERIMENTATION in their projects, even as they have reached a point of professional sophistication that has narrowed their focus of inquiry.
The most notable aspect of this focussed investigation is the conception of THE BUILDING’S SKIN, the construction of its SECTION and their relative emphasis with respect to its EXTERIOR FORM.
The deployment of sophisticated sectional strategies in Delugan-Meissl’s work further erodes the dominance of form, displacing the horizon and fixed view point in favor of MOVEMENT and the realization of SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS that express themselves in REAL TIME EXPERIENCE rather than objective contemplation.
