With the prefab discussions going on I've decided to post a little design i did a few years back in a design course at university (pre-Sketchup days). 10 days from start to finish.
The brief was to design a small unit (....) that could be loaded onto a truck and transported to a site of choice as a weekend home for 2 people maximum.

The idea was to design this box with movable elements that would enlargen the interior and to make it self-protective during transport. So the kitchen is pushed out at the back and the parts of the outer skin are also the deck and shades.

Board one.

Board 2. (minimalistic i guess but take into account the short time)

Seeing again now reminds me of the problem of getting a septic tank in there someplace and the waterstorage above the shower is also too small. :bang head

Yeah i saw that on the 2 or 3 day of the design and 'highly inspired' is putting it mildly. :no no no: But I do think that the change in the floor plan does the design some good.

I’m liking the work so far – it would be interesting to see something like this with sustainable power / heating and cooling systems integrally designed. I suppose this would truly make this a mobile structure.

What's a girl like that (#4) doing with a guy like him (#5)? ;)

Why do you think he is so excited!

Would the answer to this question have anything to do with Michels link in #13? :)
