View Full Version : infill panels....
i got a precast concrete structure and wanting to put infill into it....its generic design do could be dropped anywhere so infill will change depending on location...any advice on few different options of infill panels construction and their construction fixings etc???
also at ridge the precast frame meets sips construction of back half of house...anybody got any thoughts how these teo construction methods can lick together nestly?
thanks

ps there is a column fron ridge to floor not shown on drawings.....was trying to cantilever but even though uni project can't justify the cost of the foundations etc.
well.. depends on location..
ie.. desired thermal performance/available skills and materials..
in oz it would be done in timber/steel stud frame... in thailand wouyld be done in extruded terracotta bricks, then rendered over the top..
maybe some other places even done in pre cast concrete...
this seems to be a rather genereic design, not to offend, but evokes traditional form with more modern technology, so choice is up to you...
don't worry, not offended. the projects title is "local specificity in a generic type"

I think the replies given to your other thread on this subject (http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3171) are valid and appropriate and worth considering...

It sounds like you're letting the structure wag the house. Why keep pushing this issue when it's only getting worse. If the reality is that you will have to have a column in the center of the house, you'd better draw it now and design the house around it - and it better be a nice column when you're done - otherwise it becomes the proverbial elephant in the room at your crit.
I'm having a hard time dealing with using such massive structure for something that is 'generic' and relocatable, etc. It just doesn't make sense...
