View Full Version : Glenn Murcutt - FREDERICKS HOUSE - Jamberoo
A_Minima 11-02-2006, 00:20 I would like to submit a SU model of some Glenn Murcutt's works. I have no blueprints and work from pictutes I found on the web.
1. first try with the "Fredericks House" in Jamberoo, New South Wales (1981-82).
Maybe some of you could give me details about the old chimney on the south elevation and dimensions of the clearpane translucent roof on the south elevation.
History and details about the project when the entire model will be ended.

takesh h 11-02-2006, 02:30 Hi, A_Minima,
Probably the easiest way to do what you want is put up the .skp file here
so that we all can take a look at it and play around, adding and correcting.
;)
makeArchitecture 11-02-2006, 06:43 That's a very nice model. Well done!
I have used Sketchip for a couple of years but I usually work in BOA and thus my Sketchup experience has been limited to teaching and a few quick models. How do you work in section? How do overcome the inability to paste in place?
I'd love to see and play with the model first hand.
Wm
A minima, your model looks good! Would you care sharing it with us? I'm sure that some pushpuller will be pleased to help you with it! :D :not worth
the model works very well, i'm very intrigued with your choice of glenn murcutt, i am studying with a few french and they always ask me if i know him or have been taught by him...
unfortunately his houses are for a selct few and most buildings in australia are not like this but if you like his work another ppuller is working for an oz archietct of a similare vein, jessejacob for Gabriel Poole archietcts....
glenn also runs a masters program but the cost is ridiculous... so expensive..
A_Minima 12-02-2006, 01:07 Ok ! Let's have a cooperative work around this model. Here's the file. Maybe somme mistakes (I repeat it's from photographies !)
A_Minima 12-02-2006, 01:09 Sorry but all of the layers names are in french (I think Michel doesn't care about it) but I think they are easily identificable.
WilsonMetry 12-02-2006, 03:41 Photo credits as noted, and, to the Pritzker Prize Organization, from their publicity release and award announcement, in PDF format, 2002.

wow, old Max Dupain's shots!
glenn had always used the best photographer for his buildings, Max Dupain died quite a while ago and his follower David Moore died a few years ago too.
A_Minima 12-02-2006, 13:42 Anybody have pictures of the south elevation or large shot of the chimney ?
The chimney was there before the new construction. It was part of a pre-existant home.

Hey, very nice!
Didn't know this one, thanks for introducing. :not worth
And looks like you're also infected by the new Architectural Models virus! :D
A_Minima 14-02-2006, 13:21 Yes, I'm. Modeling the other's projects is (I think) a good way (but not the only one) to explore differents working methods and it participates to "educate" our vision of what is, what could and what should.

Ahhhhh.... gary, that sketch plan made me totally nuts...I just went to amazon and bought the book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1864701366/ref=ed_oe_p/104-6865900-1709559?%5Fencoding=UTF8). By chance my trusted Michael Webb (an archigram veteran) was giving five stars to the book, so it has to be goooooooood...
i have the book a singular practice bbut i'd prbably like to get the new francoises fromonet book.. she wrote one about 15 years ago and now there is a new edition...
A_Minima 14-02-2006, 20:59 I just found (and bought) today the Françoise Fromonot book (first edition). A reference but no elevations available for this particular project.
