Anybody know about or use http://www.yafray.org/ ?
I'm curious to see if I should take the time to see if it can work with SU workflow. I'm bummed about all the time i've spent trying to figure out Maxwell and am exploring other options

btw. how the heck to I make a clickable link when pasting a web address in the forum?
(sorry 'bout the dumb question)
There are a couple of people floating around on this forum and at the @last forums who use Blender (http://www.blender3d.org) for rendering from SU- and Blender uses Yafray. Much nicer interface for setting up bumpmaps etc. Clippi has written a couple of tutorials about it. I see there is a new version of Blender that has an improved game engine- could be a quick way to get your models into a 3d engine...

...with this incredible free modeler Wings3D (http://www.wings3d.com/) (who has a direct Interface with Yafray
OBJ file are supported!
This Modeler has also a terrific UV mapping maker
And it's the doctor of 3D files !
So a direct Interface :)
For the Renderer YAfray It's seem to me that he must be Install in the root of the Hard Disk
Have fun rendering :peace:
Thanks for the lead fellas - I'll check it out and post anything that comes of it

There is! its the SU2POV plugin, I tried it for a while, needs some experimenting, but can work.
You can place the light sources in SU and then export the model..
the worst was to rename all textures to eliminate all characters like- or_ from their names...
And there is a VERY nice new version of su2pov in beta at the moment with toolbars etc.- there are some screenshots at the ruby forum on the sketchup site.
I never could manage the SU2POV plugin , there was always a glitsh with the textures . It worked ok without textures  .

well, I used it two years ago, just had to rename the textures to eliminate strange characters from their file names, once you managed that, it worked fine.
A new version with tool bars must be great!
