I guess many members didn't saw it so I'm reposting the link.
The Hotel project brought together 18 architects and designers, including Jean Nouvel, Arata Isozaki, Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Ron Arad, John Pawson, David Chipperfield and others.

kwistenbiebel 16-02-2006, 16:35 superb!
thanx for posting this.
Great to see how every architect has a different approach.
I am very fond of Zaha's whide white space.
kwistenbiebel 16-02-2006, 19:04 If people are interested in the material use of Zaha Hadid in this project (and in general)....also look at this thread posted by Tim

spadestick 17-04-2006, 18:05 personally, I like isozaki, gluckman, foster, chipperfield's input. I like places which are liveable! :)
True you can push the boundaries... I like Plasma Studio and Kathryn Findaly's implementation. but to stay in them? not comfortable. Zaha's too... - the white one. it's too starck white till the extent my eyes hurt from looking at it. I like her dark brown / black version though... much more sensously comfortable.
This hotel seems like a architecture popularity contest. Whose rooms will sell out the most? And if a particular floor does worse than the others, will they renovate?
Thanks for the post. I don't always get a chance to read my Metropolis, I think this was a cover project.
Ron Arad & Kathryn Findlay for me & then with reservations
Both could be softer & more comfortable looking
Peter Cook of Archigram used to say that design does not have to look high tech even though the design is technologically biased, & he drew comparisons with the Space Ship set design for Barbarella ..all that technology but fitted out with furs & softness .. That comment coloured the way I think about design.
I had forgot about this project it should give me some inspiration for my upcoming decorating spree. The white one for me is the winner although you would be turned mad by keeping it tidy. I think white is the ultimate luxury while perhaps being the most unpractical. I love hotels especially top end ones. Before i was married (and now for that matter) they were always great rendezvous points for love . Its not my house or yours but which hotel kinda adds spice & anonimity.
