The CORA Forums are another great resource for those that enjoy talking about Architectural theory in the area of Residential Design. While generally thought of as an "American" site (as the parent organization, CORA, was founded as an organization for America's residential design community) the CORA Forums welcome views from residential design professionals regardless of nationality. It's a young, growing Forum which many published residential designers call home.

Brian! What the heck are you doing over here! :)

Man, it always freaks me out when my online worlds collide!

Are you a sketchup user? I thought you were all into autocad?

 I'm into both actually!

I first tried SketchUp about a year or two ago and really enjoyed how it felt to use, but I didn't quite feel like it was ready for me to use in my design environment... but it was very close. So a few months later I tried Revit for a short time and while I found it superior to AutoCAD or ADT (Architectural Desktop) it just didn't feel the least bit intuitive in the way I like to design. Granted, it's a good program, I just didn't feel creative in that design environment.

Lately I've been looking into the heavier duty capabilities of project management in ADT... not only is not intuitive to me and the design process, but to use it in a large project environment looks like a CAD manager's nightmare. So now I can mention the following since it was shown at AU and published in CADalyst: A few months ago I had a chance to see a "potential" future version of AutoCAD in action and it had some similar mass modeling design features as SketchUp. It made me wonder what the Future of ADT has in store and if it will make use of this technology as well. This also got me thinking "What's going on with SketchUp today"?

I'm VERY happy with what I've seen so far of SketchUp. I've started to practice with it and I've been very happy with the design process and the creation of the home designs I've produced in practice. I've yet to import it in and try a full set of construction documents based on these designs, but the design process and preliminary visualization makes any complications this may have very worth it!

You'll always know me regardless of my User name... I always have my Dilbert for an Avatar. ;)

Soooooo... to answer your question... I just found this place last week and I really enjoy it! You'll likely see me more and more involved as time goes on, in particular I love topics of Design and Architectural Practice so there is a good chance you'll read some long posts just like I do in CORA or in AUGI over here as well!
