Francesco 24-12-2005, 11:31 When I looked at it yesterday I was thinking of those same images! It's telepathy ! You know, some of these sites have been renovated. This one (Le Bois du Cazier, Marcinelle) is a coal mine where a terrible accident occured in 1956. About 300 workers died in the mine. It's now a museum. http://www.leboisducazier.be Francesco 24-12-2005, 11:34 The photo before. Another site (Mons, Belgium) has been renovated by Jean Nouvel. It's science museum now. http://www.pass.be ryo 24-12-2005, 13:22 I always loved the Lavoir-Triage of Péronnes-lez-Binche (Belgium) http://www.forbidden-places.be/explo17fr.php http://www.hfinster.de/StahlArt/MinesCokeplants.Belgium.PeronnesLavoir_main.html http://users.pandora.be/lab-wan/index.htm http://bxl3.free.fr/4645.htm http://www.uer.ca/locations/show.asp?locid=23105 ryo 24-12-2005, 13:25 interior ryo 24-12-2005, 13:25 ramps play ryo 24-12-2005, 13:26 voids notice the glazing placed directly in the concrete; no frames... corbusean way :D ryo 24-12-2005, 13:28 complex spaces ryo 24-12-2005, 13:29 Toooop map for Half-Life or Quake... :D ryo 24-12-2005, 13:30 last shot cacapis 24-12-2005, 18:09 Toooop map for Half-Life or Quake... :D You're probably modelling it right now! This seems to be a common topic lately. Edward Burtynsky (http://www.edwardburtynsky.com/) has very interesting pictures of abandoned chinese factories and Shipwrecks in Bangladesh. Nope, but I already modeled it in SU... :D Just to understand the spatial layout and connections between levels... but maybe someday...? Francesco 26-12-2005, 11:47 Hello Ryo I agree with you. This lavery has many interesting features . There has to be a thesis about at Mons school of architecture. I think the author is the site's owner's daughter, but I don't remember exactly. I've heard that the only future for this lavery is dynamite.. armed concrete is too much rotten. Do you know more about ? Regards Francesco ryo 26-12-2005, 12:10 Hello Ryo I agree with you. I've met another student last year, Erica Houtreille was very interested by the animation I did about this building. There was an idea competition two years ago about the future of this building and it seems that Binche was kind of happy with the outputs...? :wondering So... perhaps the dynamite can be avoided? |
