Project - Michael Scott Learning Center

Location - Tiny dot on state road map, Stevenson, Alabama, USA

Type of Project - This is an almost abandoned downtown area that developed in the late 1800s early 1900s from the railroad boom. New interstate comes to town and poof, not much happening downtown. There is a group of people trying to help the people of this little rural town to make good use of the old buildings of their heritage and not let the completely wither away to nothing. This is my home town before I ran off and got educated in one of those fancy universities. My charge as a part of this group is to aid in the capital campaign to generate buzz for these projects and act as a design advisor. The interors will be designed on a budget to meet the funds that are raised. This particular building will be a learning center for the community to help the adults and young adults develop the skills they need to advance the workforce in the area.

Design Parameters - Not much in the way of design on the exterior, just cleaning up the front facade and adding a new canopy and signage treatment. Will need more input as we move into the Interior.

Design Approach - I decided this would be an opportunity to use Maxwell right out of sketchup...

any comments are welcomed. i'm not sure if it is modern enough for this forum and the budget constraints are tight, but any crits will be considered as help.
Thanks Digdoi for looking.

I've had a lot of success with Maxwell beta, but I never bothered with using the Sketchup plugin. The RC version isn't worth touching at this point in time.

The Sketchup/photoshop image wins hands down. The Maxwell image certainly has potential to be excellent, but requires far more work to get to an acceptable standard. Maxwell beta and timeframes don't mix well.
