Hi everyone,
I am still working at BVN and have been on the Mater Hospital project for quite some time now, finally a design opportunity has arisen.
Part of the project involves a link bridge design, Brisbane City Council have voiced there objections towards the current proposal, and so there is now an in-house competition to design a link bridge currently underway. This is my proposal.
My idea revolves around the integration of a spine that runs through the center of the double height link, this allows for much less structure above and below the spine. The lower floor plate hung, and upper simply connected to the spine.
I have then integrated rectangular colonnade that acts as a skin, using the idea of the members being more concentrated near the ends and more open in the middle. The link bridge appearing lighter in the center. At night light would pour out of the middle of the structure.
I also like the idea of peoples movement becoming more interesting with the integration of opaque panels in places (silhouetting) and glass in others.
This is still very conceptual, any helpful feedback would be great.
Cheers Jesse.
